We present you „PIVOT“, a door which wants to improve important aspects of your everyday work
life. PIVOT is a concept that adapts to all doors, private and public.
Sitting around and waiting until the meeting room is free, sitting at the doctors and wondering when
it’s your turn, waiting for an important meeting with your boss but don’t know when it’s a good time
too knock?
Sounds familiar?
A smart screen will make it possible for you to have an answer to all those situations. The ordinary
appearance of the door will make you look twice when all of the sudden the screen is turned on and
the door screen tells you, how much time is left until your co-worker is done with his meeting group.
The smart screen is covered with a wood or metal veneer.
PIVOT will be able to link to in house apps that connect to your daily agenda and communicate to all
doors you select. It is available as a simple system and as a more advanced system, especially for
entry situations. Additional to the smart screen, the advanced version will feature a camera for face
recognition, microphone and fingerprint recognition in the smart handle.
On top we thought about a smart handle that will make it super easy to enter and exit the door.
Entering the room from the outside we designed a special handle that will make it very easy for
anyone with any height to open the door. The ergonomically shaped vertical pull handle, that is
unlocked by fingerprint, can also be equipped with a camera and microphone for further
communication and security if needed.
Wanting to exit from the inside, a concave panel placed at the point where usually you would have
your ordinary handle will indicate to push to open the door outwards. This is especially helpful in a
work environment where you have to think about security, emergency and the fast way out.

Why a smart door?
Researching the possibilities of smart technology our team was fascinated by how smart technology could simplify an everyday task and object.
PIVOT is a smart door that does not want to appear smart right away. The ergonomically designed handles give it a “tech” appearance but the normal surface of the door panel makes it look not any different from a normal door. The almost ordinary appearance of the door will make you look twice when all of a sudden the screen turns on and tells you, how much time is left until your co-worker is done with his meeting group or what the time is. The smart technology’s electrical supply is provided by the pivot of the door. Elements like the computer, the microphone, the sensors, the speaker, the sun detector are integrated in the door panel. The screen is fixed in the door panel by interlocking, which allows to change its size. It is composed of micro perforation followed by a tactile element for locating gestures and movements. This also allows a perfect integration into the chosen decorative element.
All the elements are the central key to the operation of the door for optimal use.
