This shelf is more than just furniture – it is the result of a parametric design process, where geometry is defined through algorithms rather than static drawings.
Its flowing curves and modular rhythm are born from a set of adjustable parameters, making the design scalable, adaptable, and customizable to any space.
The Design Process
Using advanced parametric modeling software, the curves of each vertical panel were generated to create a dynamic wave effect.
This approach ensures both structural strength and aesthetic fluidity, allowing the shelf to serve as a functional storage system and a sculptural piece of interior design.
Each element is defined by precise rules:
- Curvature control for the vertical panels
- Modular repetition for flexible dimensions
- Interlocking joints ensuring stability without complex assembly
CNC Fabrication with Morbidelli
To transform the digital model into a real object, the design was exported into CNC toolpaths and produced on a Morbidelli Cyflex S, a high-precision woodworking CNC machine.
The Morbidelli allows:
- High accuracy cutting of the curved panels
- Efficient nesting of parts to minimize material waste
- Integrated drilling and slotting for perfect assembly
The result is a clean, repeatable, and precise fabrication process that brings parametric design into reality.
